Fun games for bank holiday weekends

With all the pending bank holidays we have throughout the spring, it is a good time to get up and active ready to enjoy them. Whatever the weather we've got some fun and active games for playful afternoons in the house or outdoor play adventures in the garden.

Will you be braving the changeable weather and busting out the BBQ, or relishing the opportunity to get on with some DIY?  Whatever you decide to do with your three days off, here are some quick fun fixes for the kids.

IMAGINE: Build a camp adventure!

Kids love camping and the great outdoors, but you don’t need to travel miles for the experience. To create a faux-camp at home, why not pop up a Kid Active Pop Up Playset in the garden, here are our top tip to immerse them in the adventure:

1) Fill the tent with over-spilling blankets and the kids’ ReadyBeds, and create a really cosy and comfortable den.
2) Play all the camping favourites, from games of I-spy to singing silly campfire songs.
3) For a fairy-glen effect, hang outdoor fairy lights around the branches of nearby trees to switch on as the sun goes down.
4) Serve up hot chocolate and marshmallows to keep little hands warm as it gets dark.

PLAY: Save the bees!

Save the Bees is a game inspired by our Ugo Bee tent, but you could use another animal if you wish. One person is chosen to be the beekeeper (this could be you) and the other children are the bees. The bees run around the garden or park trying to get away from the beekeeper. If they are caught, they have to sit in the hive (the tent) and wait to be rescued by the other bees – but they will have to be quick or the beekeeper will trap them all!

CREATE: Royal afternoon tea

Your little princess can dress up in her best dress and invite all of her friends (teddies, siblings and dolls) for juice and biscuits in the tent. You can make the party even more exclusive by creating a secret password that’s needed to join the party . We thought “Do you want to build a snowman?” was appropriate for our Disney Frozen Play Tent!
