Risks and Actions
Our toys are manufactured by third party manufacturers. This has been identified by Moose as a potential modern slavery risk.
As part of our values we are committed to ensuring that there is no modern slavery or human trafficking in our supply chain or any part of our operations. We expect all partners in our supply chain to maintain a supply chain that is free from slavery and human trafficking.
The main ways that we do this are –
- we have policies in place to address modern slavery, including our Suppliers’ Code of Conduct and our Whistleblowing Policy. Our Suppliers’ Code of Conduct sets out Moose’s requirements for its suppliers (including their subsidiaries and subcontractors) with respect to workplace health and safety and human rights.
- by selecting suppliers in our manufacturing and distribution chain that align with our values through a thorough due diligence process.
- by requiring our suppliers to agree to certain contractual requirements with regards to anti-slavery compliance. For instance, suppliers must comply with the International Counsel of Toy Industries (ICTI) Ethical Toy Program which outlines business practices for the lawful, safe and ethical operation of toy factories (www.ethicaltoyprogram.org).
- by requiring our suppliers to be ICTI Ethical Toy Program certified.
- by managing our suppliers. We do this by being on the ground with offices in Hong Kong and Vietnam. We make visits (which may be unannounced) to our factories to ensure compliance with their contractual obligations, including in relation to anti-slavery, and seek to identify and address any potential violations.
- encourage relevant personnel, including supplier personnel to attend training sessions.
- HR in our Hong Kong, Shenzhen and Vietnam offices are overseen by Moose’s head office.
Moose assesses the effectiveness of the abovementioned actions that it takes to address modern slavery risks in its operations and supply chain by conducting factory audits; engaging with suppliers to check on their compliance with anti-slavery requirements; reviewing the contractual requirements we place on suppliers to ensure that they remain current with anti-slavery requirements; and identifying new modern slavery risks and ways to mitigate those risks on a yearly basis.
